NEW YORK, Saturday, June 27, 2026 (WNP): The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) is participating in the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Week at the UN Headquarters in New York under the directives of Saudi Minister of Defense and Chairman of the Council of Defense Ministers of the IMCTC, Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.

The IMCTC delegation is led by the Coalition’s Secretary-General, Major General Mohammed Al-Moghedi.

Organized by the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), the high-level forum brings together UN member states, international experts and heads of specialized agencies to review the implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy and discuss coordinated responses to evolving global terrorist threats.

Speaking on the occasion, Major General Al-Moghedi said the coalition’s participation reflects its commitment to serving as an active international partner in the global fight against terrorism.

He noted that the IMCTC continues to build collective capabilities through its four strategic pillars—ideological initiatives, strategic communications, counter-terrorist financing and military cooperation—while promoting regional expertise, institutional partnerships and information sharing among member states.

On the sidelines of the forum, Al-Moghedi held separate meetings with Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr. Abdulaziz Alwasil, Acting United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Counter-Terrorism Alexandre Zuev, and Director of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Centre (UNCCT), Mauro Miedico.

The discussions focused on expanding institutional cooperation, strengthening coordination between the IMCTC and United Nations counter-terrorism bodies, and exploring new avenues for collaboration in addressing emerging security challenges.

The coalition’s participation reflects Saudi Arabia’s continued efforts to enhance international cooperation in combating terrorism and violent extremism through multilateral engagement and capacity-building initiatives.
