TEHRAN, Saturday, June 27, 2026 (WNP): Trade between Iran and the United Arab Emirates through the strategic Port of Jebel Ali has resumed following the restoration of regional stability after the recent conflict involving Iran, according to a senior Iranian trade official.

Mohammad Sadegh Ghannadzadeh, Deputy Head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization for Commercial Services, said that commercial exchanges through Jebel Ali—one of the Gulf region’s most important transit and logistics hubs—had gradually resumed after being disrupted during the recent conflict.

In an exclusive interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Ghannadzadeh described Jebel Ali as one of the UAE’s principal gateways for trade with Iran, noting that a significant share of bilateral commercial activity has traditionally passed through the port.

He said shipping operations and cargo transit via Jebel Ali had come to a standstill during the recent conflict, resulting in a backlog of Iranian containers and delays in customs clearance.

“There were numerous reports of Iranian containers remaining at the port as traders were unable to clear their goods during the conflict,” he said.

Ghannadzadeh noted that the restoration of regional calm had enabled the gradual movement of goods and containers from Jebel Ali to Iran.

“Trade has resumed at a moderate pace, and we are witnessing the clearance of goods and containers from the port to Iran,” he said.

Expressing optimism about the outlook for bilateral commerce, the Iranian official said he expected trade flows to steadily return to pre-conflict levels as logistical operations normalize.

The resumption of commercial activity through Jebel Ali is viewed as a positive development for regional trade, supply chains and economic cooperation between Iran and the United Arab Emirates, with businesses on both sides hoping for a full return to normal operations in the coming weeks.
