Iranian and Pakistani officials hold talks on sidelines of Araghchi’s arrival in Mashhad, where Naqvi visited the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS)
MASHHAD, Wednesday, August 12, 2026 (WNP): Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met Pakistani Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi in Mashhad on Wednesday, holding talks on the sidelines of the Pakistani minister’s visit to the Iranian city to pay homage at the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS).
Araghchi arrived at Shahid Hasheminejad Airport in Mashhad on Wednesday afternoon, where he was received by Khorasan Razavi Governor Gholam-Hossein Mozaffari and the Foreign Ministry’s representative in northeastern Iran, Gholam-Abbas Arbab-Khales.
Syed Mohsin Naqvi, who was in Mashhad to visit the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS), met with the Iranian foreign minister at the airport following his arrival.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the senior Pakistani and Iranian officials to exchange views during Naqvi’s visit to Mashhad and amid continued high-level engagement between Pakistan and Iran.
The encounter underscored the importance of sustained contacts between the two neighbouring countries and their commitment to strengthening bilateral engagement.
