Pakistan, EU, Switzerland discuss progress on US-Iran understanding, reaffirm support for diplomacy

ISLAMABAD, Friday, June 12, 2026 (WNP): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Monday held separate telephone conversations with European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas and Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis to discuss recent developments regarding the emerging understanding between the United States and Iran.

During his conversation with Kaja Kallas, the deputy prime minister reviewed the latest progress achieved through ongoing diplomatic engagement between the parties concerned.

Both leaders welcomed the positive momentum generated by sustained diplomatic efforts and expressed hope that the process would culminate in a durable understanding and a peaceful resolution of outstanding issues.

They reaffirmed their shared belief that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable means of resolving conflicts and promoting lasting peace, stability and security.

Later in the evening, Ishaq Dar spoke with Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis and exchanged views on the evolving regional situation and recent progress toward an understanding between the United States and Iran.

The Swiss foreign minister welcomed the encouraging developments and appreciated Pakistan’s leading mediating role in facilitating diplomatic engagement and advancing efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region and beyond.

Dar highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to constructive diplomacy and its continued efforts to support dialogue among all stakeholders in pursuit of a peaceful outcome.

The two leaders agreed to remain closely engaged and maintain consultations as diplomatic efforts continue to move forward.

The conversations took place amid intensified international diplomatic activity aimed at consolidating progress toward a broader understanding between the United States and Iran and strengthening prospects for regional peace and stability.
