ISLAMABAD, Monday, June 15, 2026 (WNP): Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, on Monday called on Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and attended the proceedings of the National Assembly, where Pakistan’s leadership reiterated its support for diplomacy, dialogue and efforts aimed at promoting regional peace and stability.
The session began with a congratulatory address by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and was attended by prominent members of the federal cabinet, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, parliamentarians and other dignitaries.
During the proceedings, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif shared his views on the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and highlighted Pakistan’s sustained diplomatic efforts undertaken in good faith to facilitate dialogue and encourage peaceful engagement among stakeholders.

According to Ambassador Moghadam, the prime minister acknowledged the tireless efforts made under Pakistan’s mediation initiative, emphasizing the importance of diplomacy as a means of resolving conflicts and advancing regional peace.
In their respective addresses, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and other lawmakers commended the resilience, endurance and steadfastness of the Iranian nation, as well as the determination of the Islamic Republic of Iran in safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The speakers observed that Iran’s perseverance and commitment to its national interests had contributed to the advancement of constructive dialogue and goodwill discussions aimed at achieving lasting peace, security and stability in the region and beyond.
They also underscored the importance of continued diplomatic engagement and welcomed efforts designed to reduce tensions and foster mutual understanding among nations.

Ambassador Moghadam said the proceedings reflected Iran’s firm resolve to defend its sovereignty while remaining committed to diplomacy and dialogue as the preferred path toward resolving disputes and promoting regional cooperation.
He noted that the discussions emphasized respect for international law, the principles of non-aggression, mutual respect among nations, constructive cooperation and the inherent right of states to legitimate self-defence in accordance with international norms.
The session highlighted the shared commitment of Pakistan and Iran to strengthening bilateral relations, supporting diplomatic solutions to regional challenges and promoting peace, stability and cooperation across the broader region.
