NEW YORK, Wednesday, April 29, 2026 (WNP): King Charles III has commended the work of Harlem Grown, describing it as a “fantastic” initiative supporting children and families through urban agriculture and community engagement in Upper Manhattan.

Reflecting on his visit, the King noted that Harlem Grown began as a neglected community garden before being transformed into a thriving space. It has since grown into a network of fourteen sites across Upper Manhattan, delivering programmes that combine hands-on sustainable agricultural education with after-school activities, mentorship, and broader community support.

He highlighted the initiative’s partnerships with local schools and organisations, which help create safe and nurturing environments for young people and families.

The King said it was “brilliant” to witness the positive impact of such grassroots efforts, underscoring the importance of community-led programmes in promoting sustainability, education, and social development.
