ISLAMABAD, Sunday, July 12, 2026 (WNP): President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the conferment of the Nishan-e-Khidmat upon Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL), Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to promoting interfaith harmony, moderation, unity within the Muslim Ummah and his distinguished services to the Islamic world.
The approval reflects Pakistan’s recognition of Dr. Al-Issa’s sustained efforts to foster dialogue among religions and cultures, encourage peaceful coexistence, counter extremism and strengthen cooperation among Muslim nations through the platform of the Muslim World League.
President Zardari also approved the award of an Honorary Doctorate in Islamic Studies and International Relations to Dr. Al-Issa by the National University of Modern Languages (NUML), Islamabad, in acknowledgement of his scholarly contributions, international leadership and significant role in advancing global understanding, religious tolerance and constructive engagement among civilizations.
The decisions underscore Pakistan’s appreciation of Dr. Al-Issa’s global efforts to promote moderation, mutual respect, humanitarian values and international peace, while reinforcing the longstanding fraternal relations between Pakistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The conferment of the Nishan-e-Khidmat and the honorary doctorate also reflects Pakistan’s commitment to recognizing individuals whose contributions have strengthened interfaith dialogue, enhanced cooperation within the Muslim world and advanced the shared values of peace, coexistence and human dignity.
