ISLAMABAD, Sunday, June 28, 2026 (WNP): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held separate telephone conversations with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, as well as the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to advancing regional peace and stability through dialogue and diplomacy following the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Condolences to Saudi Arabia
During a telephone conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Senator Dar conveyed heartfelt condolences on behalf of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Government and the people of Pakistan over the tragic helicopter crash in Ras Tanura, which claimed 14 lives.
Dar said Pakistan was deeply grieved by the tragic incident and extended its sincere sympathies to the Government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this tragic accident and their grieving families. Pakistan stands in complete and unwavering solidarity with our Saudi brethren in this hour of national grief,” he said.
Prince Faisal thanked Pakistan for its message of solidarity and expressed appreciation for the brotherly gesture.
The two foreign ministers also held an in-depth discussion on the evolving regional situation and expressed concern over recent developments.
Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s determination to continue working for lasting peace and stability in the region through the implementation of the Islamabad MoU.
Prince Faisal also informed Dar of his intention to visit Pakistan at the earliest mutually convenient opportunity. Dar welcomed the proposed visit and expressed hope that it would take place soon.
Discussion with EU foreign policy chief
In a separate telephone conversation with European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, Dar reviewed the rapidly evolving regional situation and Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives aimed at consolidating peace in the Middle East.

Kallas appreciated Pakistan’s sincere diplomatic efforts that culminated in the signing of the Islamabad MoU, while expressing concern over recent ceasefire violations and emphasizing the importance of keeping channels of communication open.
Dar briefed the EU foreign policy chief on Pakistan’s continued efforts to develop a comprehensive framework for peace and stability in the region and stressed that all parties must fully adhere to the ceasefire agreement.
Both sides agreed to remain in close contact on regional developments.
Bahrain praises Pakistan’s diplomatic role
Dar also spoke with Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, with the two leaders reviewing the latest regional developments following the signing of the Islamabad MoU.
Dr. Al Zayani congratulated Pakistan on facilitating the landmark understanding and commended Islamabad’s constructive diplomatic role in promoting regional de-escalation.
He expressed hope that the agreement would contribute to durable peace and stability across the Middle East.

The Bahraini foreign minister also announced his intention to visit Pakistan in the near future to personally convey appreciation to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their efforts in helping achieve the ceasefire.
Dar thanked Bahrain for its warm sentiments and reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to promoting dialogue, diplomacy and peaceful engagement as the foundation for sustainable regional peace and stability.
The series of high-level diplomatic engagements reflects Pakistan’s continued efforts to consolidate international support for the Islamabad MoU and advance a broader regional peace process through sustained dialogue and cooperation.
