GENEVA, Tuesday, July 7, 2026 (WNP): Saudi Arabia has reaffirmed its growing leadership in global artificial intelligence (AI) governance through active participation in the United Nations Global Dialogue on AI Governance, where the Kingdom is promoting responsible, trusted and human-centered AI development as part of international efforts to shape the future of emerging technologies.
Held in Geneva on the sidelines of the AI for Good Global Summit 2026, the UN dialogue brings together governments, international organizations, policymakers and technology leaders at a time when the rapid evolution of AI has intensified calls for comprehensive governance frameworks to maximize its benefits while mitigating potential risks.

As part of its participation, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), in collaboration with the International Center for Artificial Intelligence Research and Ethics (ICAIRE) and the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), is hosting a high-level side event on Tuesday titled “Responsible, Trusted, and Safe AI for Prosperity: From Principles to Practice.”
The session, being held at Palexpo Geneva, focuses on translating internationally recognized AI governance principles into practical policies and regulatory frameworks that foster sustainable development, digital prosperity and responsible technological innovation.
Saudi Arabia’s contribution to the dialogue is underpinned by a series of forward-looking initiatives led by SDAIA, reflecting the Kingdom’s commitment under Saudi Vision 2030 to building a comprehensive national AI governance ecosystem aligned with international best practices.
Among the key initiatives presented is SDAIA’s landmark study, “Foresight on the Governance of Artificial General Intelligence: Current Landscape and Future Prospects,” which provides one of the most comprehensive scientific assessments of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) governance to date.
The study offers an in-depth analysis of the evolving AGI landscape, examines emerging governance models, explores potential future development scenarios, and presents practical recommendations to assist policymakers in regulating advanced AI technologies through ethical, transparent and accountable approaches.
The report notes that despite increasing international attention to AI governance, there are currently no dedicated international or national regulatory frameworks specifically designed to govern AGI, highlighting an urgent need for enhanced global cooperation and adaptable governance mechanisms capable of keeping pace with accelerating technological advances.
It further examines the diversity of regulatory approaches adopted worldwide and highlights the increasingly important role of global technology companies in developing proactive safeguards, risk assessment mechanisms and governance frameworks for advanced AI models.
Saudi Arabia also showcased its expanding portfolio of AI governance initiatives, including the AI Ethics Principles, Generative AI Guidelines, AI Adoption Framework, and the National AI Risk Management Framework, together with a range of regulatory guidance and technical resources designed to help organizations deploy AI responsibly while safeguarding transparency, fairness, privacy and public trust.
Officials said these initiatives demonstrate the Kingdom’s commitment to translating international AI governance principles into practical national policies that encourage innovation while ensuring the responsible use of advanced technologies.
Through its participation in the UN Global Dialogue on AI Governance, Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening international cooperation, supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and contributing to the development of inclusive global governance frameworks that promote the safe, ethical and sustainable use of artificial intelligence.
The Kingdom’s participation further reinforces its position as an influential international partner working with the global community to shape the future of AI governance in a manner that advances innovation, protects human values and serves the broader interests of humanity.
