TASHKENT, Monday, April 6, 2026 (WNP): The second Asian Women’s Forum will be held in Bukhara from May 13 to 15, aimed at enhancing regional and global cooperation on women’s empowerment across multiple sectors.

A meeting of the Organizing Committee was convened at the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and chaired by Tanzila Narbaeva. The session was attended by committee members, senators, senior officials from relevant ministries and agencies, as well as representatives of non-governmental non-profit organizations.

It was recalled that the Head of State of Uzbekistan, during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly held from September 23–29, 2025, proposed transforming the Asian Women’s Forum into a permanent platform to advance women’s issues at regional and international levels.

In line with this vision, it was decided to organize the upcoming forum jointly with UN Women and the United Nations Population Fund. The forum will focus on enhancing women’s role in politics, economy, healthcare, education, social protection, climate and environmental issues, as well as governance. It is also expected to facilitate the exchange of experiences and best practices among participating countries.

The event will provide an opportunity to showcase Uzbekistan’s ongoing reforms under the leadership of the Head of State, particularly initiatives aimed at empowering women, expanding socio-economic opportunities, and improving access to employment, entrepreneurship, education, and social protection. Achievements in community development and the country’s growing tourism potential will also be highlighted for international participants.

Special emphasis will be placed on the implementation of key international frameworks, including the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, UN Security Council Resolution 1325, the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, and the Sustainable Development Goals.

During the meeting, participants reviewed organizational matters related to the forum, including its agenda, thematic focus, and arrangements for bilateral engagements with foreign delegations. Following detailed deliberations, relevant ministries and institutions were assigned specific responsibilities to ensure the successful and high-level conduct of the forum.

According to officials, the Second Asian Women’s Forum is expected to serve as a significant platform for advancing gender equality, strengthening international partnerships, and reinforcing Uzbekistan’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development.
