RIYADH, Tuesday, June 9, 2026 (WNP): Saudi Arabia and Türkiye signed two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) on Tuesday for enhancing cooperation in the logistics and railway sectors, reflecting the growing strategic partnership between the two countries and their shared commitment to strengthening regional connectivity and economic integration.

The agreements were signed following talks in Riyadh between Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Saleh Al-Jasser and Türkiye’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, who is visiting the Kingdom at the head of a high-level delegation.

The meeting focused on expanding bilateral cooperation in transportation infrastructure, logistics services, railway development and supply chain connectivity, while exploring opportunities for joint projects and investment.

The first memorandum of understanding covers cooperation in logistics services and operations, including the exchange of expertise, regulatory frameworks, policies and best practices for improving efficiency and facilitating trade between the two countries.

The second MoU focuses on cooperation in the railway sector and encompasses railway technologies, signaling and communication systems, railway digitalization, human resource development, localization of railway industries and efforts to reduce the environmental impact of rail transport.

Officials from both countries described the agreements as an important step toward building a modern and sustainable transportation partnership capable of supporting economic growth and regional connectivity.

The railway cooperation framework is expected to facilitate knowledge transfer, technical collaboration and the adoption of advanced technologies while enhancing institutional cooperation between relevant authorities in both countries.

The agreements also align with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 objectives to transform the Kingdom into a global logistics hub and Türkiye’s ambition to strengthen its position as a key transportation and transit corridor linking Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

Speaking during the discussions, both sides emphasized the strategic importance of transportation and logistics in supporting trade, investment and economic diversification.

The agreements are part of broader efforts by Riyadh and Ankara to deepen cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade, energy, industry, tourism and infrastructure development.

The signing of the two MoUs is expected to pave the way for greater collaboration in developing resilient transportation networks, enhancing supply chain connectivity and promoting sustainable mobility solutions.

The latest agreements further underscore the growing momentum in Saudi-Turkish relations, with both countries increasingly working together to advance regional development, economic integration and long-term prosperity.
