Lebanese Army Chief meets Field Marshal Asim Munir at GHQ

RAWALPINDI, Tuesday, June 9, 2026 (WNP): Commander-in-Chief of the Lebanese Armed Forces General Rodolphe Haykal called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, at the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Tuesday, where the two military leaders discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security and defence cooperation.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), upon his arrival at GHQ, General Haykal was presented a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned-out tri-services contingent.

During the meeting, both dignitaries exchanged views on the evolving regional security environment, bilateral defence relations and avenues for enhancing military-to-military cooperation between Pakistan and Lebanon.

The discussions focused on strengthening professional interactions, expanding training cooperation and promoting institutional linkages between the armed forces of the two countries.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir reaffirmed the importance Pakistan attaches to its longstanding and cordial relations with Lebanon and underscored the Pakistan Army’s commitment to further expanding defence collaboration with the Lebanese Armed Forces.

The Army Chief also highlighted the significance of enhanced military engagement in promoting regional stability, professional excellence and mutual understanding between the armed forces of both nations.

General Rodolphe Haykal lauded the professionalism, operational preparedness and combat capabilities of the Pakistan Armed Forces. He also acknowledged Pakistan’s contributions to regional peace, stability and international peacekeeping missions under the United Nations framework.

The Lebanese military chief expressed appreciation for the strong defence ties between the two countries and conveyed his desire to further strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

According to ISPR, the visit reflects the shared commitment of Pakistan and Lebanon to fostering closer military relations and enhancing cooperation between their armed forces through regular exchanges, training initiatives and institutional engagement.

The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their resolve to deepen bilateral defence ties and explore new opportunities for collaboration in support of regional and international peace and security.
