RAWALPINDI, Friday, Jan 30, 2026 (WNP): Pakistan and Türkiye on Friday reaffirmed their longstanding strategic and defence partnership, pledging to further deepen military cooperation in the face of an increasingly complex regional and global security environment.
General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu, Chief of the Turkish General Staff, called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of Pakistan, at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Upon his arrival at GHQ, General Bayraktaroglu was accorded a guard of honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Armed Forces, reflecting the high-level nature of the visit and the close military ties between the two countries.
During the meeting, the two military leaders held detailed discussions on matters of mutual interest, the prevailing regional and global security landscape, and avenues for further strengthening bilateral defence and military cooperation.

Both sides expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of Pakistan–Türkiye relations and underscored the importance of sustained coordination and enhanced defence collaboration.
Field Marshal Asim Munir highlighted the deep-rooted brotherly relationship between Pakistan and Türkiye, founded on shared history, mutual trust, and strong people-to-people ties. He lauded the continued support and cooperation extended by the Turkish Armed Forces and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding military-to-military engagement with Türkiye.

General Bayraktaroglu conveyed his appreciation for the warm hospitality and commended the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces. He reiterated Türkiye’s resolve to further deepen defence cooperation, particularly in the areas of training, joint military exercises, and capacity-building initiatives.
The visit underscores the enduring strategic partnership between Pakistan and Türkiye, as both nations continue to work closely to promote regional peace, stability, and security amid evolving geopolitical challenges.
