NUST, Turkish universities explore deeper academic, research partnerships

18-member Turkish delegation visits NUST; discussions focus on institutional linkages, joint research, faculty and student mobility, and long-term cooperation

ISLAMABAD, Friday, September 18, 2026 (WNP): The National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) welcomed a high-level 18-member delegation from Türkiye comprising Vice Chancellors and Rectors of leading Turkish universities and senior officials of the Council of Higher Education of Türkiye (CoHE).

Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Irfan Neziroglu was also present on the occasion.

Welcoming the distinguished delegation, Rector NUST Dr. Muhammad Zahid Latif highlighted the importance of further strengthening institutional linkages between Pakistan and Türkiye and advancing meaningful partnerships in areas of mutual interest.

The session provided an opportunity for academic leaders from both countries to exchange views on strengthening academic and research collaboration, promoting faculty and student mobility, and developing joint initiatives.

The discussions also explored opportunities for establishing deeper and more enduring institutional partnerships between NUST and leading Turkish universities, particularly in areas of education, research, innovation and technology.

As part of the visit, the Turkish delegation undertook a guided tour of the NUST H-12 campus and visited several key facilities, including the National Science & Technology Park (NSTP), School of Interdisciplinary Engineering & Sciences (SINES), Center for Emerging Technologies (CEMTECH) and the university’s all-inclusive sports complex.

The visit provided the Turkish delegates with an opportunity to gain insights into NUST’s academic, research, innovation and technological ecosystem.

The engagement reflected the strong and growing institutional ties between NUST and Turkish higher education institutions and provided a valuable platform for continued dialogue, academic exchange and the development of meaningful, long-term partnerships between Pakistan and Türkiye.
