Pakistan, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Egypt exchange views on regional developments; ministers reiterate support for Palestinian right to self-determination and independent state

NEW YORK, Tuesday, September 22, 2026 (WNP): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday participated in a ministerial meeting of the Regional-4 (R-4) group on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, reaffirming Pakistan’s strong commitment to the framework and continued engagement for regional peace and prosperity.

The meeting was attended by the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, who exchanged views on the latest situation in the region and expressed full support for efforts aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution of regional issues.

DPM/FM Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to the R-4 framework and emphasized the need for sustained engagement among the four countries to enhance regional peace and prosperity.

The ministers also reiterated their support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their inalienable right to self-determination and to establish an independent, sovereign, viable and contiguous State of Palestine on the basis of the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.

The R-4 format brings together Pakistan, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Egypt for consultations on regional and international matters. The four countries have held a series of ministerial consultations during 2026 focusing on regional peace, stability, security and diplomatic efforts to address crises in the region.

The New York meeting underscored the importance of continued coordination and diplomatic engagement among the four countries in support of regional stability and peaceful solutions to outstanding regional challenges.
