PM Shehbaz holds bilateral talks with Iranian President Pezeshkian in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, Tuesday, June 23, 2026 (WNP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday held bilateral talks with President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, at the Prime Minister’s House, reaffirming the two countries’ commitment to further strengthening their longstanding brotherly relations and expanding cooperation across diverse sectors.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

The two leaders discussed the full spectrum of Pakistan-Iran relations, including political engagement, trade, economic cooperation, regional connectivity, border management and the evolving regional and international situation.

Following the one-on-one meeting, the two sides were scheduled to hold delegation-level talks to review bilateral cooperation and explore new avenues for collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

The high-level engagements formed part of President Pezeshkian’s state visit to Pakistan, reflecting the shared resolve of Islamabad and Tehran to further deepen their historic partnership founded on common faith, shared history, cultural affinity and longstanding people-to-people ties.

The visit is expected to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and reinforce the commitment of both neighbouring countries to regional peace, stability and sustainable development.
