ISLAMABAD, Tuesday, June 23, 2026 (WNP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday conferred the Honorary Fellowship of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) in Cardiac Surgery upon President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, at a special ceremony held at the Prime Minister House here.
The honorary fellowship was awarded in recognition of President Pezeshkian’s distinguished contributions to the field of cardiac surgery and his dedicated service to humanity as a medical professional before entering public life.
Prime Minister Shehbaz congratulated President Pezeshkian on the prestigious honour, describing him as a visionary statesman and an accomplished cardiac surgeon whose commitment to saving lives had earned him widespread respect.
He said President Pezeshkian’s remarkable journey from medicine to national leadership reflected his unwavering dedication to public service and the welfare of humanity.
The prime minister noted that the conferment of the honorary fellowship symbolized the deep-rooted friendship between Pakistan and Iran and underscored the strong cooperation between the two brotherly countries in the fields of healthcare, education and professional excellence.
President Pezeshkian thanked the government and people of Pakistan, as well as the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan, for the honour and reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation and promoting peace, friendship and mutual understanding between the two neighbouring nations.
The ceremony was attended by members of the Pakistani and Iranian delegations, senior government officials, medical professionals, and representatives of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan.
