ISLAMABAD, Thursday, June 25, 2026 (WNP): A brief but profoundly meaningful Arabic expression by Prince Turki Al-Faisal upon hearing the name of Pakistan’s city of Faisalabad has once again underscored the deep-rooted friendship, mutual respect and historic ties between Pakistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The touching exchange was captured in a video clip shared on Thursday by the Press Attaché at the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Islamabad, Dr. Saif Almashali, which has drawn widespread appreciation for its heartfelt reflection of the enduring bond between the two brotherly nations.

The moment occurred during Prince Turki Al-Faisal’s interaction with Dr. Abdul Khalid, Associate Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, who introduced himself and his research project.

Responding to the prince’s inquiry about his background, Dr. Abdul Khalid said, “I am from Pakistan, Faisalabad. My name is Dr. Abdul Khalid. I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. This project is funded under the University’s Innovation Project and focuses on skin graft applications.”

The moment Prince Turki heard the name “Faisalabad,” he warmly replied with the Arabic expression “Aashat Al-Asami”, meaning “May the name live on” or “Long live the name.”

Although comprising only a few words, the prince’s spontaneous response conveyed profound respect for the enduring legacy of the late King Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, after whom Faisalabad was named. His remark resonated as a powerful symbol of the affection and historic relationship shared by the people of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Named in honour of the visionary Saudi monarch, Faisalabad—Pakistan’s third-largest city—continues to serve as a living testament to King Faisal’s unwavering support for Pakistan and the Muslim world. His name remains deeply embedded in Pakistan’s collective memory and is synonymous with fraternity, goodwill and mutual respect.

Prince Turki’s heartfelt expression served as a poignant reminder that the legacy of King Faisal transcends generations and diplomatic history. It continues to inspire the close relationship between the two countries, founded on shared faith, common values, strategic cooperation and decades of unwavering solidarity.

The widely shared video has been warmly received by many Pakistanis, who viewed the prince’s remarks as a sincere acknowledgment of the deep emotional and historical bonds linking the two nations.

Beyond diplomacy, the exchange highlighted the enduring people-to-people connection that remains one of the strongest pillars of Pakistan-Saudi Arabia relations.
