MANAMA, Wednesday, June 10, 2026 (WNP): The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) on Wednesday strongly condemned what it described as Iranian drone and ballistic missile attacks targeting Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan, reaffirming its collective commitment to regional security and warning that any attack on one GCC member state would be considered an attack on all.
The position was outlined in a statement issued following the 167th Ministerial Council meeting of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, held in Manama, Bahrain.
According to the statement, GCC foreign ministers discussed a “new and heinous Iranian aggression” involving attacks against the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Kuwait and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
The Ministerial Council condemned the alleged attacks in the strongest terms, describing them as a violation of state sovereignty, territorial integrity and international law.
“The attacks constitute a blatant aggression against the sovereignty of states, the security of their peoples and the integrity of their territories, and a flagrant violation of international law, the Charter of the United Nations and the principles of good neighborliness,” the statement said.
The Council expressed full solidarity with Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan, emphasizing that the security of GCC member states is indivisible.
“The security of the GCC countries is indivisible, and any attack on one of them is an attack on all of them,” the ministers declared.
The statement further asserted that GCC joint defense capabilities and air defense systems were responding to the attacks with a high degree of readiness and efficiency, while reassuring citizens and residents that regional leaders remain committed to preserving stability and security.
The GCC foreign ministers said the alleged attacks would only strengthen the unity and determination of Gulf states and their peoples.
The Council also reaffirmed the inherent and legitimate right of member states to defend themselves individually and collectively in accordance with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.
The ministers held Iran responsible for the alleged attacks and their consequences, including potential implications for regional security, international navigation and global energy supplies.
The statement called for an immediate halt to any actions targeting GCC member states, their citizens and their interests.
The Council further urged the United Nations Security Council and the broader international community to condemn the alleged attacks and take steps to ensure accountability, stressing the importance of respecting state sovereignty and maintaining regional and international peace and security.
Despite its strong condemnation, the GCC reiterated its commitment to peaceful coexistence, diplomacy and good-neighborly relations as the preferred means of resolving disputes.
The Council concluded by raising a fundamental question regarding the future of regional relations in light of the alleged attacks, warning that continued confrontation would only deepen divisions and isolation.
“Continuing the path of aggression will only lead to further isolation, while the door to understanding remains open to those who choose the language of wisdom and good neighborliness,” the statement said.
The meeting in Manama brought together the foreign ministers of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar to discuss regional developments and coordinate Gulf positions on issues affecting regional security and stability.
