Iranian envoy criticizes U.S. policy, warns against imposition of terms through pressure

ISLAMABAD, Thursday, June 11, 2026 (WNP): Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, on Thursday strongly criticized the United States’ approach toward Tehran, accusing Washington of pursuing confrontation and political pressure rather than a genuine and constructive path toward a peaceful settlement.

In a statement, Ambassador Moghadam said recent U.S. actions reflected a policy of “brinkmanship” rather than sincere diplomacy.

“The reckless adventurism of the U.S. and the trigger-happy bravado approach have virtually proved that the United States is looking for brinkmanship and charlatanism rather than a substantial peaceful settlement pursued with good will,” the ambassador said.

He emphasized that Iran would not accept any attempt to impose conditions through force or coercion. “If this is the mindset to inflict imposed terms on Iran by force and coercion, we are sorry to say that it will never happen,” he stated.

The Iranian envoy argued that past experiences had demonstrated the limitations of pressure-based policies toward Iran, saying repeated cycles of tension had failed to achieve Washington’s desired objectives. “If he wants to try his chance, it is okay, but experience has shown that at the end of the day, after repeated cycles of tension, he gains less than before,” Moghadam remarked.

The ambassador further criticized inconsistent U.S. policies, warning that such an approach could lead to diplomatic deadlock and unintended consequences. “The U.S. ruling clique swung the chaotic pendulum, and here are the repercussions and the gridlock that lie ahead,” he said.

Moghadam also accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and pro-Israel lobbying groups in Washington of benefiting from the failure of diplomatic initiatives involving Iran. “If this course continues, Netanyahu and his lobby in Washington will be the only ones celebrating the failure of another diplomatic initiative,” he said.

The ambassador argued that continued confrontation would further undermine U.S. credibility on the international stage. He said Washington risked diminishing its global standing by, in his words, placing its power in support of policies that run contrary to its own national interests.

The remarks come amid heightened diplomatic activity and ongoing international discussions aimed at reducing tensions and advancing efforts toward a negotiated settlement involving Iran and regional stakeholders.

Iranian officials have consistently maintained that dialogue and mutual respect, rather than pressure and coercion, remain the only viable path toward resolving outstanding disputes and achieving lasting regional stability.
