WASHINGTON, Tuesday, April 28, 2026 (WNP): King Charles III on Tuesday reaffirmed the enduring strength of the United Kingdom–United States partnership, describing it as an “indispensable alliance” that has long underpinned shared prosperity and security.

Addressing a state dinner at the White House, the King expressed gratitude to the U.S. President and First Lady for their hospitality, while paying tribute to the resilience and courage demonstrated by American leadership and security services following a recent security incident.

Reflecting on decades of personal engagement with the United States, the King highlighted the deep historical, cultural, and familial ties linking the two nations, noting that the relationship has evolved from past adversaries to “the closest of allies.”

He underscored the shared sacrifices of British and American forces in defending common values, as well as continued cooperation in trade, innovation, and global security. “Our people have fought and fallen together in defence of the values we cherish,” he said.

The King also pointed to the importance of multilateral cooperation in addressing contemporary global challenges, including emerging technologies, threats to international order, and geopolitical instability.

Referring to alliances such as NATO and AUKUS, he emphasized the need for deeper technological and military collaboration to navigate an increasingly complex global environment.

Highlighting historical milestones, the King recalled the legacy of wartime cooperation and leadership, including the role of Winston Churchill and U.S. presidents during critical periods of the 20th century. He also acknowledged continued American support for European security, particularly in light of the ongoing war in Ukraine following Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Blending historical reflection with light-hearted remarks, the King referenced shared cultural heritage, sporting ties, and even space exploration, while also presenting a symbolic gift to the U.S. President—an original bell from a historic British submarine bearing the name “HMS Trump.”

Looking ahead, he expressed optimism about continued collaboration, including upcoming global events such as the FIFA World Cup, where the United States will serve as a host nation.

Quoting William Shakespeare to emphasize the importance of peace, the King concluded by calling for renewed commitment to shared values and cooperation.

“Let us raise our glasses,” he said, “to the past, the present and the future of our two proud and allied nations.”

He ended his address with a toast to the United States and the United Kingdom, expressing confidence in the continued strength of bilateral ties.
