ISLAMABAD, Saturday, February 28, 2026 (WNP): Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar on Saturday said Pakistan’s security forces have killed 352 combatants of the Afghan Taliban regime, destroyed 130 of their posts and captured 26 others during Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, launched in response to “unprovoked action” from across the border.
Providing an operational update at 21:00 hours, the minister said more than 535 Afghan operatives were injured in the ongoing operation, which he termed a “decisive and calibrated response” to cross-border hostilities. He added that approximately 171 tanks and armed vehicles had been destroyed during the course of the military action.
According to Tarar, around 41 locations across Afghanistan were effectively targeted by air strikes as part of the operation, aimed at dismantling militant infrastructure and neutralizing threats to Pakistan’s security.
The minister said the operation was launched after repeated incidents of cross-border aggression and stressed that Pakistan’s armed forces were fully prepared to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He maintained that the response was proportionate and focused on identified targets linked to hostile activity.
There was no immediate response from the Afghan Taliban authorities to the claims at the time of filing this report. Independent verification of the figures provided by the Pakistani side was not immediately possible.
Tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border have escalated in recent weeks amid security concerns and allegations of militant sanctuaries. The latest developments mark one of the most significant cross-border military actions in recent months, raising concerns over broader regional stability.
