ISLAMABAD, Wednesday, June 4, 2026 (WNP): British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott on Wednesday encouraged Pakistani citizens seeking to visit the United Kingdom to apply for visas directly through the official process, assuring applicants that they do not require the services of visa agents.

In a video message shared on social media, Marriott sought to simplify the visa application process for prospective travelers from Pakistan, describing it as straightforward and fully manageable by applicants themselves.

“Applying for a UK visa from Pakistan does not have to be complicated. We’ve got you, and you do not need to use a visa agency,” she said.

The High Commissioner advised applicants to begin their visa journey through the UK government’s official website and determine the appropriate visa category before applying.

She noted that for most travelers, the Standard Visitor Visa is the suitable option, while emphasizing the importance of checking individual requirements carefully. Applicants can submit their applications up to three months before their intended travel date, she added.

Marriott explained that the visa application process is completed online through a user-friendly form divided into different sections covering travel plans, financial information and personal background.

“Take your time. You do not need to complete everything in one sitting. You can save your application and return to it whenever you want,” she said.

Highlighting the application procedure, she stressed that applicants should first complete and pay for the online application before booking an appointment at a visa facilitation service centre.

According to Marriott, the official government website redirects applicants to the VFS Global platform, where they can select the most convenient visa application centre from locations across Pakistan.

She said applicants are required to visit their chosen centre to provide biometric information, while noting that they may retain their passports after the appointment.

“The GOV.UK system guides you step by step. All you need is a smartphone or a device with internet access and a camera,” she said.

Marriott further emphasized that visa decisions are made solely by UK Visas and Immigration on the basis of information provided by applicants.

Urging prospective visitors to rely on official guidance, she concluded: “Keep calm and carry on applying. You’ve got this.”

The British High Commission regularly advises visa applicants to use official government resources and ensure that all information submitted during the application process is accurate and complete.
