ISLAMABAD, Friday, March 6, 2026 (WNP): A vibrant Türkiye–Pakistan Friendship Iftar brought together government officials, diplomats, humanitarian organizations, and hundreds of young students in Islamabad on Friday, highlighting the deep-rooted ties between the two countries while spreading joy among orphan children through cultural activities and educational gifts.

The event was organized by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen humanitarian cooperation and cultural friendship between Türkiye and Pakistan during the holy month of Ramadan.

The gathering was attended by several distinguished guests, including Minister of State for Education Wajiha Qamar, Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs Muhammad Humair Karim, Ambassador of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to Pakistan Buket Kop, and Chairperson of the Pakistan–Türkiye Parliamentary Friendship Group Shaista Pervaiz. Representatives of public institutions, private sector organizations, civil society groups, Turkish institutions operating in Pakistan, international organizations, and university students also participated.

A highlight of the event was the presence of around 200 orphan children supported by Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal and Al Khidmat Foundation. The children enjoyed a lively program featuring games, entertainment activities, and a special Qawali Mehfil that captivated the young audience and created a festive atmosphere.

As part of the celebrations marking World Orphans Day, the children were presented with school bags, books, and gift packages, for encouraging their education and bringing happiness during the holy month.

Speaking at the ceremony, TİKA Islamabad Program Coordinator Saliha Tuna emphasized the importance of strong and trustworthy institutions dedicated to protecting and supporting vulnerable children. She praised the collaboration with Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal and Al Khidmat Foundation, noting that their partnership reflects the spirit of friendship and shared humanitarian commitment between the two nations.

“The well-being, education, and safety of children must remain a collective responsibility of society,” Tuna said, expressing gratitude to TİKA’s partners in Pakistan for their continued cooperation in supporting orphan children.

Participants described the evening as a powerful symbol of Türkiye–Pakistan brotherhood, blending humanitarian support, cultural heritage, and the values of compassion and unity associated with Ramadan.

The event concluded with a communal iftar meal, reinforcing the enduring partnership between the two countries and their shared commitment to humanitarian outreach and youth development.
