ISLAMABAD, Thursday, October 29, 2026 (WNP): Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Pakistan, Dr Irfan Neziroğlu, has described Türkiye and Pakistan as brothers united by shared history, sacrifices and an unshakable bond between their peoples, reaffirming the commitment to further strengthen bilateral relations and build a shared future of peace, prosperity and progress.

Addressing the 103rd anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye, Ambassador Neziroğlu warmly welcomed Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, ministers, diplomats and distinguished guests, expressing gratitude to the prime minister for attending the celebration as chief guest.

He said the Turkish War of Liberation and the establishment of the Republic of Türkiye in 1923 under the leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk were remarkable achievements that inspired many nations, including Muslims in South Asia, in their struggles for independence and the establishment of independent states.

Recalling the support extended by the people of the subcontinent during the Balkan Wars, the Gallipoli Campaign and the Turkish War of Liberation, the ambassador said Türkiye had never forgotten the generosity, support and sacrifices of its Pakistani brothers and sisters.

“Throughout history, our nations have always stood by each other through thick and thin. When Pakistan hurts, Türkiye feels the pain. When Türkiye faces hardship, Pakistan stands beside us,” he said, adding that whenever either nation called upon the other, the response came from the heart of a brother.

“Türkiye and Pakistan are not simply friends. We are brothers by history, united by fate and shared sacrifices, and strengthened by an unshakable bond between our peoples,” he said.

The ambassador emphasised that the two countries should not remain content with the strength of their historic relationship alone, but should work towards building an even stronger economic partnership, deepening their strategic alliance and creating a shared future in which both peoples prosper together.

He said Pakistan and Türkiye should also set an exemplary model of cooperation on regional and international platforms.

Referring to the Makkah Alliance for Joint Defence and the Badr Memorandum of Understanding, Ambassador Neziroğlu described them as the latest milestones in the longstanding brotherhood between the two nations.

“I firmly believe that united we are stronger,” he said.

The Turkish ambassador said that after 103 years, Türkiye stood as a beacon of peace and stability for its region and beyond.

On the occasion, he paid profound tribute to all martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence and welfare of the Republic of Türkiye and prayed for Allah Almighty’s mercy upon them.

He concluded with the slogan: “Türkiye-Pakistan Yaşasın Zindabad!”
