SAN DIEGO, Tuesday, June 30, 2026 (WNP): Saudi Arabia showcased its rapidly expanding biotechnology sector and highlighted emerging investment opportunities during a high-level gathering of global biotechnology leaders held on the sidelines of the BIO International Convention in San Diego, United States.
The meeting was organized by the King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC) in collaboration with the U.S.-Saudi Business Council to promote Saudi Arabia’s growing biotechnology ecosystem and advance preparations for the Riyadh Global Medical Biotechnology Summit (RGMBS 2026).

The event brought together biotechnology industry leaders, researchers, investors and policymakers to explore opportunities for collaboration in medical biotechnology, life sciences and healthcare innovation, while highlighting Saudi Arabia’s vision of becoming a global hub for scientific research and biotechnology investment.
The organizers also promoted the Riyadh Global Medical Biotechnology Summit (RGMBS 2026), which will be held in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Investment from September 14 to 16, 2026, under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Participants were briefed on Saudi Arabia’s rapidly evolving biotechnology landscape through a series of presentations highlighting KAIMRC’s strategic roadmap for cell and gene therapy, as well as the Kingdom’s latest achievements in biotechnology research, education and innovation.

The presentations also showcased Saudi Arabia’s expanding scientific infrastructure, which is designed to accelerate research, foster innovation and facilitate the commercialization of scientific discoveries in line with the Kingdom’s broader economic diversification goals.
Speaking on the occasion, Charles Hallab, Chief Executive Officer of the U.S.-Saudi Business Council, said Saudi Arabia and the United States possess significant opportunities to deepen cooperation in biotechnology, healthcare innovation and life sciences investment.

“Through initiatives such as the Riyadh Global Medical Biotechnology Summit, we are working to strengthen ties among innovators, institutions and investors while supporting partnerships that advance scientific discovery, business growth and improved health outcomes in both countries,” Hallab said.
The meeting also provided participants attending the BIO International Convention with an opportunity to engage directly with Saudi stakeholders, exchange ideas with leading experts and gain first-hand insight into the Kingdom’s rapidly growing biotechnology ecosystem ahead of RGMBS 2026.
Saudi Arabia continues to expand its investment in advanced medical research, biotechnology and innovation as part of its broader strategy to position the Kingdom among the world’s leading centres for life sciences, biomedical research and healthcare technologies under Saudi Vision 2030.
