ISLAMABAD, Monday, May 11, 2026 (WNP): Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Pakistan Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki on Monday said the Saudi leadership had mobilized all available capabilities to serve pilgrims through the Makkah Route Initiative, which is being implemented this year in three cities of Pakistan.
Speaking about the initiative, the ambassador said the Makkah Route Initiative was one of the major programmes supervised by the Saudi Ministry of Interior and was currently being implemented in 10 countries.
He said Lahore had been added to the initiative this year and the programme was now operational in Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore.
The ambassador said the government of Saudi Arabia remained fully committed to ensuring the safety, comfort and facilitation of pilgrims so they could perform Hajj in a peaceful and secure environment.
He expressed gratitude to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud for their continued support for the initiative.
The ambassador also thanked Saudi Interior Minister Abdulaziz bin Saud Al Saud and other Saudi government institutions involved in making the initiative successful.
He further appreciated the cooperation of the Government of Pakistan, particularly Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Ministry of Religious Affairs, for providing all possible facilitation for the successful implementation of the initiative.
