RIYADH, Friday, March 27, 2026 (WNP): Russia has dispatched a fresh consignment of humanitarian assistance to Iran, with seven trucks carrying approximately 150 tonnes of relief supplies crossing the Azerbaijani-Iranian border on March 27, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
The aid convoy, which transited through Azerbaijan, has been handed over to Iranian authorities for distribution among affected populations, amid ongoing regional tensions and humanitarian challenges.
Officials said the delivery forms part of Russia’s continued humanitarian support to Iran, as the country grapples with the fallout of the ongoing US-Israel-Iran conflict, which has caused widespread damage and civilian hardship.
Previous aid shipments from Russia have included medical supplies and essential goods, often routed through Azerbaijan’s strategic border crossings, highlighting Baku’s role as a key logistical corridor for relief operations between the two countries.
The latest delivery significantly expands the scale of assistance, with 150 tonnes of supplies marking one of the largest consignments sent so far during the current crisis.
Authorities said the aid will now be distributed by Iranian agencies to communities affected by the conflict, as humanitarian needs continue to rise across several regions of the country.
The transfer also underscores ongoing regional coordination in facilitating relief efforts, despite heightened geopolitical tensions and security concerns in the wider Middle East.
