President Zardari begins four-day official visit to Bahrain to strengthen bilateral ties

MANAMA, Wednesday, January 14, 2026 (WNP): President Asif Ali Zardari arrived in the Bahraini capital for a four-day official visit aimed at further strengthening political, economic, and diplomatic relations between Pakistan and the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Upon arrival in Manama, the president was received by Commander of the Bahrain National Guard Sheikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa and Bahrain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, reflecting the importance both sides attach to the visit.

During his stay, President Zardari is expected to hold meetings with Bahrain’s leadership to discuss avenues for enhanced cooperation across a range of sectors, including trade, investment, labour, and people-to-people exchanges. The visit is also seen as an opportunity to review regional and international developments of mutual interest.

Pakistan and Bahrain share longstanding fraternal relations marked by close political coordination, defence cooperation, and a significant Pakistani expatriate community contributing to Bahrain’s economy. President Zardari’s visit underscores Islamabad’s commitment to deepening engagement with Gulf partners and advancing shared interests through sustained high-level exchanges.
