ISLAMABAD, Wednesday, April 22, 2026 (WNP): In a significant development for regional connectivity, the first transit truck from Kyrgyzstan has arrived at Sost Dry Port in Pakistan, successfully bypassing Afghanistan.

Officials described the movement as a milestone, noting that it marks the first-ever such transport operation by a Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) country using this route.

The consignment was facilitated by a partner company of National Logistics Corporation (NLC) in Kyrgyzstan, highlighting growing logistical cooperation between the two countries.

The development is expected to pave the way for enhanced trade and connectivity, with plans underway to extend such transit movements to Pakistan’s seaports in Karachi and Gwadar, offering new opportunities for landlocked countries seeking access to global markets.

Trade experts believe the initiative could significantly boost Pakistan’s role as a regional transit hub while providing alternative trade corridors for Central Asian states.

Officials said Pakistan’s seaports remain open to landlocked countries for transit trade, reinforcing Islamabad’s commitment to promoting regional economic integration and connectivity.
