ISLAMABAD, Wednesday, June 24, 2026 (WNP): President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, on Wednesday praised Pakistan’s tireless efforts to promote regional peace, describing the country’s mediation initiatives as a reflection of its rich cultural heritage and commitment to dialogue.
In a statement following his official visit to Pakistan, President Pezeshkian said Iran and Pakistan share deep commonalities in their aspirations, values and hopes for a peaceful and prosperous region.

“Iran and Pakistan share deep commonalities in their aspirations and hopes. Pakistan’s tireless efforts to promote peace in the region are rooted in the rich culture of this country,” he said.
The Iranian President said his visit to Pakistan was undertaken to express appreciation for Pakistan’s constructive mediation efforts aimed at promoting regional peace and stability.
“During my trip to Pakistan to appreciate Pakistan’s mediations, we discussed expanding interactions with my brothers Asif Zardari, Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir,” President Pezeshkian said.
He reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation with Pakistan and expressed confidence that the close consultations between the two brotherly countries would contribute to greater regional stability, mutual prosperity and stronger people-to-people ties.
President Pezeshkian’s remarks came after his high-level meetings in Islamabad with President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, during which both sides reaffirmed their resolve to deepen cooperation across political, economic, security and regional affairs while advancing peace through dialogue and diplomacy.
