ISLAMABAD, Monday, February 16, 2026 (WNP): The Ambassador of the Türkiye to Pakistan, İrfan Neziroğlu, on Monday called on Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi at the Supreme Court of Pakistan to discuss preparations for an upcoming high-level judicial exchange between the two countries.

The meeting, held at the Supreme Court in Islamabad, was also attended by the Secretary of the Ministry of Law and Justice and a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure coordination among relevant government departments ahead of the planned visit.

The interaction took place against the backdrop of the scheduled visit in March 2026 of the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Türkiye to Pakistan. During that visit, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is expected to be signed between the Supreme Court of Pakistan and Türkiye’s Constitutional Court, marking a significant step toward structured institutional cooperation between the two apex judicial bodies.

Chief Justice Afridi welcomed the proposed visit and reaffirmed the Supreme Court’s commitment to extending full judicial courtesy and hospitality to the visiting dignitary, reflecting the longstanding brotherly ties between Pakistan and Türkiye.

Highlighting the historic and cordial relations between the two nations, the Chief Justice noted that bilateral cooperation is rooted in shared legal traditions, mutual respect and enduring cultural bonds. He also acknowledged expanding collaboration in areas such as technology integration within court systems, capacity building and the exchange of best practices across various tiers of the judiciary.

Both sides expressed confidence that the forthcoming visit and the anticipated signing of the MoU would provide a formal framework for deeper collaboration, including judicial dialogue, research partnerships, training initiatives and the exchange of jurisprudential developments.

Legal observers view the initiative as part of broader efforts by both countries to modernize judicial systems and strengthen institutional linkages in line with evolving global standards of judicial administration.
