ISLAMABAD, Sunday, July 5, 2026 (WNP): Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam on Sunday expressed profound gratitude to the Government and people of Pakistan for sending a high-level delegation to attend the funeral ceremony of the late Supreme Leader of Iran, Shaheed Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, describing the gesture as a powerful reflection of the enduring brotherhood between the two neighboring countries.
In a statement, Ambassador Moghadam conveyed his appreciation on behalf of the Government and people of Iran to Pakistan’s leadership for participating in the historic ceremony held in Tehran to pay tribute to the martyred Iranian leader.
The ambassador particularly thanked Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Chief of Defence Staff and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, as well as other senior government officials, prominent religious scholars, political leaders and cultural personalities for expressing solidarity with the Government and people of Iran.
Ambassador Moghadam said he was honored to announce that Pakistan participated in the funeral ceremony at the highest possible level, making the Pakistani delegation both the highest-ranking and the largest foreign delegation attending the event.
He said the presence of such a distinguished and sizeable delegation demonstrated the deep-rooted friendship, mutual respect and fraternal ties that have long defined relations between Iran and Pakistan.
Describing the participation as a meaningful and historic gesture, the ambassador said it reflected the shared values and longstanding bonds that have united the two neighboring Muslim countries throughout their history.
He noted that Iran and Pakistan had consistently stood by one another in times of joy and adversity, maintaining a relationship founded on solidarity, brotherhood and mutual support.
Concluding his message, Ambassador Moghadam prayed that Almighty Allah would preserve the enduring friendship between the two nations, bless both countries with lasting peace, prosperity and dignity, and further strengthen the bonds between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for generations to come.
