ISLAMABAD, Tuesday, June 24, 2025 (WNP): The Cultural Counsellor of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Islamabad has issued a strong statement condemning recent U.S. military aggression, stating that the United States has unmasked its true intentions by imposing war on Iran.

The remarks came in response to the June 22 military offensive ordered by U.S. President Donald Trump against Iran’s nuclear facilities, which Tehran views as a blatant violation of its sovereignty and international law.

In a statement released by the Iranian Embassy’s Media Office, the counsellor said that Washington’s direct military action exposed its long-standing agenda of coercion, after decades of waging proxy warfare against the Islamic Republic.

“The U.S. aims to force Iran into surrender and compel it to the negotiating table through aggression. But the Iranian leadership remains resolute, as always, in its defense of the nation’s sovereignty,” the statement read.

The Iranian official asserted that Tehran’s retaliatory missile strike late last night on the U.S. military base in Al-Udeid, Qatar, was a legitimate act of self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter. He emphasized that Iran’s response was not directed at Qatar—a neighboring and friendly nation—but specifically targeted U.S. military installations posing a threat to Iran’s territorial integrity.

“Iran is not a country that will tolerate aggression or be intimidated by military threats,” the statement continued. “Our actions are rooted in international law, our trust in God, and our independent defense capabilities.”

The statement also rejected any allegations of hostility towards neighboring states, reaffirming Iran’s commitment to peaceful and friendly relations with all regional countries, including Qatar. “We hope that foreign forces will withdraw from the Middle East and allow the nations of the region to coexist peacefully without external interference.”

Commenting on broader regional developments, the Iranian official criticized the role of the United States in supporting what he termed the “failed ambitions” of the Israeli government. He claimed that even after a week of fighting, Israel was unable to achieve its objectives and only survived militarily with U.S. backing. “Without American support, the Zionist regime could not even resist small Palestinian resistance groups,” he stated.

The Cultural Counsellor further accused the U.S. of violating a host of international norms. “The attack on Iran’s peaceful nuclear installations violates global legal frameworks, including international treaties and even American law,” he said. “Threats against Iran’s top leadership are unacceptable and undermine global diplomatic norms.”

He called on the international community to acknowledge Iran’s legitimate right to self-defense, urging nations to condemn both the Israeli military actions and the American strikes. Expressing gratitude, he specifically praised the government and people of Pakistan for their “principled and courageous stance” in supporting Iran during this critical time.

“The international community is witnessing a dangerous precedent where one member of the United Nations flagrantly attacks another,” the statement concluded. “We call for global solidarity against such aggression to ensure peace, stability, and respect for sovereignty in the region and beyond.”
