130 Russian citizens cast ballots at Embassy in Islamabad; Ambassador Khorev praises smooth voting process and civic responsibility despite traffic restrictions

ISLAMABAD, Sunday, September 20, 2026 (WNP): Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Pakistan Albert P. Khorev said voting at the polling station established at the Russian Embassy in Pakistan had successfully concluded, with 130 Russian citizens casting their ballots in the elections for deputies to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the ninth convocation.

In a comment to TASS News Agency following the voting, Ambassador Khorev said those who participated included the leadership and staff of the Russian Embassy and Trade Mission, their family members, as well as Russian citizens residing in or temporarily staying in Pakistan.

He said observers from the Civic Chamber of Russia present at the polling station noted that the voting was conducted in full compliance with established procedures and that no violations had been identified.

Ambassador Khorev noted that the voting took place amid a challenging social situation in Islamabad, marked by heightened protest activity and partial traffic restrictions.

Despite these circumstances, he said, the Russian Embassy, in close coordination with the Pakistani authorities, took additional measures to inform Russian citizens about the voting arrangements and organized convenient transportation to the polling station.

“All necessary conditions were created to enable Russian citizens residing in Islamabad and the surrounding areas to cast their ballots,” he said.

Ambassador Khorev expressed his personal gratitude to all Russian citizens who exercised their right to vote in the State Duma elections, saying their participation demonstrated a strong sense of civic responsibility.
