Indonesian Defence Minister, Chief of Air Staff reinforce cooperation in capacity building, training, technological collaboration

ISLAMABAD, Monday, January 12, 2026 (WNP): A high-level defence delegation from Indonesia, led by Minister of Defence Lieutenant General (Retd) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Air Staff of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), at Air Headquarters, Islamabad, following the recent state visit of the Indonesian President.

The meeting reaffirmed the historic and brotherly ties between Pakistan and Indonesia, with discussions focusing on enhancing bilateral Air Force cooperation, particularly in capacity building, training, and technological collaboration. Air Chief Marshal Sidhu briefed the delegation on PAF’s ongoing modernization drive, which includes infrastructure development, revamped training programs, and induction of advanced capabilities to strengthen readiness for multi-domain operations.

The Indonesian Defence Minister lauded the professionalism, combat readiness, and indigenization achievements of the Pakistan Air Force under the National Aerospace Science & Technology Park, expressing keen interest in expanding collaboration in training, aviation, and aerospace technologies.

The engagement highlighted the growing momentum in Pakistan–Indonesia defence relations and a shared commitment to deepen cooperation through sustained dialogue and strategic partnership.
