VISAKHAPATNAM, Saturday, January 3, 2026 (WNP): Trade union leaders and delegates from across India staged a large demonstration in Visakhapatnam to protest the illegal U.S. actions against Venezuela, including allegations of the detention of President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores.
The protest took place on the sidelines of the All India Conference, where more than 1,500 delegates and volunteers gathered at RK Beach in a spontaneous show of solidarity with the Venezuelan people. Participants carried placards and raised slogans opposing foreign intervention, framing the issue as a matter of national sovereignty and international law.
Conference organizers said the gathering unanimously adopted a resolution condemning the U.S. imperialist aggression and the reported bombardment of Venezuelan territory. The resolution called for the immediate release of President Maduro and urged the international community to respect Venezuela’s sovereignty and democratic processes.
Addressing the demonstrators, trade union representatives said the protest reflected broader concerns among labor movements about the impact of foreign intervention on working people and global stability. They emphasized the need for peaceful dialogue and adherence to international norms to resolve conflicts.
The developments underscore the growing international reaction among civil society groups to the evolving situation in Venezuela and highlight calls for de-escalation and diplomatic engagement.
