ISLAMABAD, Saturday, January 3, 2026 (WNP): The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) on Saturday successfully conducted the flight test of the indigenously developed Taimoor Weapon System, marking a major milestone in the country’s efforts to strengthen its aerospace and defence capabilities through indigenous innovation.

According to an official statement, the Taimoor Air-Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM) is capable of engaging both land and sea-based targets with high precision at a range of up to 600 kilometres, carrying a conventional warhead. The missile is equipped with a state-of-the-art navigation and guidance system and is designed to fly at very low altitudes, enabling it to effectively evade hostile air and missile defence systems.

The precision-strike capability of the Taimoor system significantly enhances the PAF’s conventional deterrence and operational flexibility, contributing to Pakistan’s overall defence posture in an evolving regional security environment.

Defence officials said the successful test reflects the growing technical maturity, innovation, and self-reliance of Pakistan’s defence industry.

The flight test was witnessed by senior officers of the Pakistan Armed Forces, as well as distinguished scientists and engineers who played a key role in the design and development of the advanced weapon system.

Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, congratulated the scientists, engineers, and the entire PAF team on what he described as a “remarkable achievement.” He praised their professional excellence, dedication, and unwavering commitment to enhancing Pakistan’s defence capabilities.

The Air Chief said the successful test underscores the nation’s resolve to achieve technological self-sufficiency and maintain a credible conventional deterrent. He reaffirmed that such advancements are vital to ensuring operational readiness, technological superiority, and the safeguarding of Pakistan’s national security interests.
