Pakistan reaffirms all-weather strategic partnership with China, backs one-China policy

ISLAMABAD, Monday, December 29, 2025 (WNP): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Monday reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to its “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership” with China during a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong in Islamabad.

During the call, Ambassador Jiang conveyed seasonal greetings and best wishes for the New Year on behalf of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Senator Dar reciprocated the greetings and expressed appreciation for China’s consistent and strong support for Pakistan’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and national development.

Reiterating Pakistan’s long-standing position on China’s core interests, the deputy prime minister underscored Islamabad’s firm adherence to the One-China Principle. He reaffirmed that Pakistan recognizes the People’s Republic of China as the sole legitimate government representing all of China, and reiterated that Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory.

The two sides reviewed the overall state of bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction with the depth and breadth of cooperation across political, economic and strategic domains. They agreed that the Pakistan–China All-Weather Strategic Partnership continues to serve as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy and a key stabilizing factor for regional peace and security.

Both leaders also underscored the importance of sustained high-level engagement and close coordination to further strengthen bilateral ties in the coming year, reflecting the enduring friendship and mutual trust between Pakistan and China.
