ISLAMABAD, Tuesday, December 23, 2025 (WNP): The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) has successfully concluded 20 comprehensive free eye treatment camps across Pakistan under the Noor Saudi Volunteer Initiative 2025, delivering critical ophthalmic care to thousands of underserved and vulnerable individuals.
Implemented in partnership with the Al-Basar International Foundation and Al-Ibrahim Eye Hospital, Karachi, the initiative focused on providing accessible, high-quality eye care to communities facing financial hardship or limited access to specialised medical services.

The eye camps were strategically established in both urban centres and remote localities across Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab and Azad Jammu & Kashmir, ensuring wide geographic outreach and equitable access to care. Services included early screening and diagnosis, surgical treatment, vision correction and the provision of essential medications, aimed at addressing preventable and treatable eye conditions.

According to officials, a total of 79,161 patients received outpatient consultations and eye screenings during the campaign. Of these, 8,085 sight-restoring surgeries — including cataract and other vision-impairing procedures — were successfully performed by qualified ophthalmic specialists. In addition, 20,096 pairs of corrective eyeglasses were distributed free of cost, along with prescribed medicines provided on site.
The initiative prioritised districts with limited ophthalmologic facilities and high unmet needs, enabling timely and life-changing interventions for thousands who would otherwise have been unable to afford or access such treatment.

The programme underscores the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s strong commitment to global health and humanitarian solidarity, particularly in the fight against preventable blindness. By restoring sight and improving vision for tens of thousands of people, KSrelief continues to deliver hope, dignity and improved quality of life to communities in need across Pakistan.
