SEOUL, Thursday, October 30, 2025 (WNP): Former U.S. President Donald J. Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday held a high-stakes meeting in South Korea, resulting in significant agreements aimed at boosting bilateral trade, expanding energy cooperation, and addressing the global fentanyl crisis.
In a statement following the meeting on his social media account, President Trump described the discussions as “truly great,” emphasizing that mutual respect between the United States and China had been further strengthened. “We agreed on many things, with others, even of high importance, being very close to resolved,” Trump said.

Among the key outcomes, China authorized the purchase of massive quantities of American agricultural products, including soybeans, sorghum, and other farm commodities — a move Trump said would “make U.S. farmers very happy.” He even encouraged American farmers to “go out and buy more land and larger tractors,” reflecting renewed optimism for the agricultural sector.
Trump also announced that China would continue the open and free export of rare earth elements, critical minerals, and magnets, which are vital for U.S. technology and defense industries.
In a major public health development, China committed to working closely with the United States to curb the flow of fentanyl — a powerful synthetic opioid at the center of a devastating drug crisis in America. “They will help us end the Fentanyl Crisis,” Trump said, calling the commitment “very significant.”
Energy cooperation also featured prominently in the talks. Trump revealed that China is set to begin purchasing American oil and gas, with a potential large-scale transaction involving Alaskan energy resources under discussion. Energy executives Chris Wright and Doug Burgum, along with both countries’ energy teams, are expected to meet soon to finalize details.
Trump described the agreements as “historic and transformative,” saying they would bring “prosperity and security to millions of Americans.” He also extended appreciation to Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and other Asia-Pacific nations for their hospitality and support during his regional visit.
“Hundreds of billions of dollars are being brought into our country because of them,” Trump remarked. “Our Nation is strong, respected, and admired again — and the best is yet to come.”
The Trump–Xi meeting marks a renewed effort to restore economic stability and cooperation between the world’s two largest economies, with potential ripple effects across global trade, energy markets, and public health initiatives.
