RIYADH, Thursday, October 23, 2025 (WNP): Saudi Arabia is set to host the World Championship in Fire and Rescue Sport in Riyadh from October 26 to November 1, further cementing its position as a leading global hub for international sporting events.

The championship, organized by the Ministry of Interior through the General Directorate of Civil Defense, will gather participants from 22 countries for a week of competition combining athletic excellence with humanitarian purpose.

The event will feature rescue simulations, firefighting challenges, and skill-based contests — aimed at fostering international collaboration, promoting public awareness on safety, and encouraging community participation in firefighting and rescue activities.

This global championship joins the Kingdom’s impressive portfolio of more than 100 international sporting events hosted across 40 disciplines, collectively attracting over 2.6 million spectators from around the world.

Saudi Arabia’s growing track record includes hosting premier events such as the FIFA Club World Cup, Spanish and Italian Super Cups, Dakar Rally Saudi Arabia, Formula 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, and the Esports World Cup. The Kingdom has also hosted the International Handball Federation (IHF) Men’s Super Globe, the Next Gen ATP Finals, the PIF Saudi International Golf Tournament, and the world-renowned Saudi Cup horse racing event — in addition to winning the bid to host the FIFA World Cup 2034.

The Ministry of Interior emphasized that hosting the World Championship in Fire and Rescue Sport demonstrates Saudi Arabia’s commitment to combining sportsmanship with public service, highlighting the importance of preparedness, teamwork, and innovation in emergency response.

This initiative aligns closely with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to enhance the Kingdom’s global image, empower local talent, promote healthy lifestyles, and strengthen investment in the sports and safety sectors.

By hosting such events, Saudi Arabia continues to reinforce its global presence — showcasing its heritage, hospitality, and organizational excellence, while promoting the values of resilience, safety, and international cooperation.
