RIYADH, Tuesday, May 5, 2026 (WNP): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia has called for restraint and de-escalation amid rising regional tensions, while expressing support for Pakistan’s mediation efforts aimed at achieving a political solution and preventing further instability.

In an official statement, the Kingdom voiced concern over the ongoing military escalation in the region and stressed the need for calm, urging all parties to avoid further escalation and pursue dialogue and diplomacy as the only viable path to peace and stability.
The statement also emphasized the importance of ensuring freedom of international navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, calling for the safe and unrestricted passage of vessels in accordance with international norms.
In a separate statement, Saudi Arabia strongly condemned attacks targeting civilian and economic facilities in the United Arab Emirates, describing them as unacceptable and a violation of international law.

The Kingdom reaffirmed its full solidarity with the UAE and expressed support for all measures taken to safeguard its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
Saudi Arabia also called on Iran to halt such actions, adhere to international law and United Nations Security Council resolutions, and respect the principles of good neighbourliness.
Reiterating its commitment to regional peace, the Kingdom underscored the need for collective efforts to de-escalate tensions and promote stability across the region.
According to media consultant and journalist Dr. Naif Alotaibi, the Saudi Foreign Ministry underscored the importance of dialogue and diplomacy to resolve ongoing issues, emphasizing that constructive engagement remains key to ensuring peace and stability in the region and beyond.
He highlighted that the Kingdom supports Pakistan’s role in facilitating negotiations and bridging differences between parties, viewing such efforts as vital to avoiding escalation and fostering long-term regional security.
Dr. Alotaibi noted that Saudi Arabia continues to advocate for peaceful resolution of conflicts through diplomatic channels, reiterating its commitment to stability and cooperation at both regional and international levels.
