ISLAMABAD, Thursday, October 9, 2025 (WNP): Senior Jamat-e-Islami leader and former senator Mushtaq Ahmed on Thursday arrived in Islamabad following his release from Israeli custody, and delivered a passionate address condemning the ongoing atrocities in Gaza and urging unity among Muslim nations.
Addressing a large gathering of supporters, Mushtaq expressed gratitude for their solidarity, saying their presence symbolized “love for Palestine and the Al-Aqsa Mosque.” He recounted harrowing scenes from his visit to Gaza, alleging that the violence against civilians had persisted for over two years.
“Thousands of children have been maimed and countless parents killed,” he said, describing the campaign in Gaza as “one of the worst genocides and humanitarian tragedies in recent history.”
Sharing details of his journey, Mushtaq said he and his group spent thirty days and nights at sea, surviving three drone attacks. “We were unarmed; our only mission was to help the Palestinian people,” he said, adding that their faith and resolve kept them steadfast despite the dangers.
The veteran Islamist leader urged Muslim-majority countries to unite and adopt a joint strategy to address the worsening crisis in Palestine. His remarks drew an emotional response from supporters, who welcomed him warmly and echoed his calls for collective action and stronger Muslim-state engagement on the Gaza issue.
