JEDDAH, Monday, August 25, 2025 (WNP): Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah on Monday called for urgent collective action by the Muslim world to confront Israel’s ongoing aggression against Palestinians, warning that continued violations threaten not only regional but global peace and security.

Addressing the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in Jeddah, Prince Faisal condemned the “heinous crimes” of occupation, starvation, displacement, and genocide committed by Israeli forces in Gaza.

He stressed the importance of OIC member states unifying their positions and developing effective mechanisms of cooperation to address these threats. “The international community must immediately act to end the crimes perpetrated by the Israeli occupation forces and categorically reject their declared intention to impose full military control over the Gaza Strip,” he said.

Prince Faisal demanded the lifting of the blockade on Gaza, urging Israel to open all crossings to allow unhindered entry of humanitarian aid. He also called for stronger support for UNRWA and other UN agencies providing vital assistance in the occupied Palestinian territories, while backing efforts to strengthen the Palestinian National Authority and its institutions.

The minister reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s categorical rejection of Israel’s settlement expansion and “Greater Israel” vision, reiterating the Kingdom’s firm support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He highlighted the Kingdom’s support for Egyptian and Qatari mediation to secure a ceasefire and accelerate aid delivery, as well as the ongoing engagement of the Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee formed at the extraordinary Arab-Islamic summits in Riyadh.

Prince Faisal also pointed to growing international momentum for the two-state solution, noting that increasing recognition of Palestine by countries in Europe, the Americas, and Oceania underscores the global rejection of Israeli violations. “Those still hesitant to act must recognize that the realities of occupation and expansionism can no longer be ignored,” he said.

Concluding his remarks, the foreign minister warned that unchecked Israeli violations undermine international law and legitimacy. “Such actions risk widening the circle of conflict and pose a threat to security and peace not only in the region but across the world,” he cautioned.

The session was attended by senior Saudi officials, including Deputy Minister for International Multilateral Affairs Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Rassi, Advisor to the Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Prince Musab bin Mohammed Al Farhan, and Saudi Permanent Representative to the OIC Saleh Hamad Al-Suhaibani.
