ISLAMABAD, Wednesday, August 6, 2025 (WNP): British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Marriott, took to social media platform X on Wednesday to share her appreciation for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), following a flight she took from Karachi to Islamabad.

Posting a short video clip with the caption “Come fly with me!”, the UK envoy praised the experience and highlighted the lifting of the UK’s air safety ban on Pakistani carriers as a significant step forward in bilateral aviation cooperation.

“The UK has lifted its air safety ban, a milestone reflecting the hard work of aviation experts in Pakistan and the UK to meet international safety standards,” she stated.

The lifting of the ban marks a major development for Pakistan’s aviation sector, which had faced restrictions from several international regulators in recent years. The UK’s decision follows ongoing reforms and safety upgrades within Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority and national airline, aimed at aligning with global aviation norms.

Marriott’s public endorsement of the flight and the broader regulatory progress was widely welcomed by Pakistani officials and aviation professionals as a positive signal for the national carrier’s international revival.

Meanwhile, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) extended a warm welcome to British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Marriott, who recently travelled aboard a domestic PIA flight. The airline praised her enthusiasm for aviation and expressed appreciation for her engagement with Pakistan’s national carrier.

“It was a pleasure to welcome the High Commissioner @ukinpakistan H.E. @JaneMarriottUK onboard the PIA flight. She impressed us with her passion for flying,” the airline said in a statement posted on social media.

The interaction comes at a pivotal moment as PIA prepares to resume its operations to the United Kingdom, with Manchester set to be among the first destinations.

“With the resumption of our operations to #UK #Manchester, we are looking forward to welcoming her again,” the airline added.

Earlier, the British High Commissioner posted a video clip from her flight experience, noting the UK’s decision to lift the air safety ban on Pakistani airlines—a development widely seen as a breakthrough for Pakistan’s aviation sector.

The mutual gestures highlight strengthening ties and renewed confidence in Pakistan’s air travel safety standards.
