Ishaq Dar, Hakan Fidan reaffirm commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation, regional peace and stability

ISTANBUL, Sunday, August 30, 2026 (WNP): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a meeting with Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Istanbul, with both sides expressing satisfaction over the continued strengthening and expansion of Pakistan-Türkiye relations across political, economic, security and cultural domains.

The two foreign ministers welcomed the progress achieved under the Pakistan-Türkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) framework and agreed on the early convening of the next session of the HLSCC to further advance bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, the two sides also exchanged views on a range of regional and international issues of mutual importance and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close coordination and working together for regional peace, stability and security.

The meeting reflected the longstanding strategic partnership between Pakistan and Türkiye and the shared resolve of the two countries to further broaden cooperation across multiple areas of mutual interest.

The Pakistani delegation accompanying the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister included Special Secretary (UN) Nabeel Munir, Director General (UN) Umar Siddique, First Secretary Qazi Saleem, and Deputy Director to the Foreign Minister Agha Hunain.

The agreement to convene the next HLSCC session at an early date is expected to provide further momentum to the institutional mechanism guiding Pakistan-Türkiye strategic cooperation and reinforce the two countries’ commitment to deepening their multifaceted partnership.
