ISLAMABAD, Sunday, August 2, 2026 (WNP): The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Pakistan has reaffirmed the enduring strength of Pakistan-Iran relations, describing the bilateral partnership as standing “as high as the majestic peaks of Damavand and K2” and emphasizing that the historic friendship between the two neighbouring countries has entered a new and unprecedented phase of cooperation.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the embassy said the centuries-old relationship between Iran and Pakistan, rooted in shared history, civilization, faith and cultural heritage, has successfully withstood the test of time and continues to grow stronger.

The statement recalled the historic milestones in bilateral relations, noting that Iran was the first country to recognize Pakistan after its independence, while Pakistan became the first country to recognize the Islamic Republic of Iran, laying the foundation for an enduring partnership.

According to the embassy, bilateral ties have witnessed remarkable consolidation over the past two years through sustained political engagement, strategic cooperation and growing people-to-people contacts, reflecting an exceptional level of trust and mutual understanding between the two nations.

Highlighting parliamentary cooperation, the statement said legislators from both countries have consistently demonstrated solidarity with one another. It noted that Pakistan’s Parliament adopted a resolution in support of Iran on the first day of what it described as the Israeli regime’s aggression against the country.

The embassy also referred to public expressions of goodwill, stating that members of the Iranian Parliament chanted “Pakistan Tashakur” in the presence of the President, while Iranian citizens echoed the same sentiment by waving the national flags of Iran and Pakistan together in the streets.

The statement further noted that the new Supreme Leader of Iran, in his first Nowruz message, underscored the importance of Pakistan-Iran relations, describing the bilateral partnership as a key pillar of regional cooperation.

Referring to the extensive exchange of high-level visits over the past two years, the embassy highlighted President Masoud Pezeshkian’s two visits to Pakistan, multiple visits by Pakistan’s Prime Minister to Iran, several visits by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, as well as regular interactions between senior officials of both countries.

The embassy also recalled President Pezeshkian’s visit to Islamabad in June 2026, during which he conveyed the gratitude of the Government and people of Iran to Pakistan. It further noted that Pakistan sent its largest-ever high-level delegation to participate in the ceremony commemorating Iran’s Martyred Supreme Leader, describing the gesture as a powerful symbol of mutual respect and solidarity.

Expressing confidence in the future of bilateral relations, the statement said no regional challenge, external pressure or international development could weaken the enduring bonds of friendship, brotherhood and cooperation between Pakistan and Iran.

“The stature and reputation of the relations stand as high as the majestic peaks of Damavand and K2,” the embassy stated, expressing the hope that the Pakistan-Iran partnership would continue to serve as a model of mutual respect, sincere brotherhood, good neighbourliness and regional cooperation.
