ISLAMABAD, Monday, June 15, 2026 (WNP): Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Monday hailed Pakistan’s role in facilitating the breakthrough between the United States and Iran, describing the end of the 47-year diplomatic deadlock as a historic achievement for the country and a major contribution to global peace.
Addressing the National Assembly, the speaker said Pakistan had earned the distinction of helping bring the two countries to the negotiating table after decades of strained relations.

“The honour of breaking the 47-year diplomatic stalemate between the United States and Iran has fallen to Pakistan,” he told lawmakers, congratulating the House and the entire nation on what he termed a landmark diplomatic success.
Ayaz Sadiq said the achievement was a matter of immense national pride and gratitude, adding that the entire nation was thankful to Almighty Allah for enabling Pakistan to play a decisive role in advancing peace and dialogue.
He said Pakistan’s political and military leadership had demonstrated wisdom, foresight and determination in facilitating negotiations that paved the way for a lasting understanding between Tehran and Washington.
According to the speaker, Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts helped pull the world back from the brink of a potentially wider conflict and created an opportunity for peace and stability to prevail.
The speaker paid tribute to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for what he described as his prudent and statesmanlike leadership throughout the mediation process.
He also commended Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar for demonstrating exceptional diplomatic skill in helping ensure the success of the negotiations.

Ayaz Sadiq praised Chief of Defence Forces and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for his tireless efforts, saying his commitment played a crucial role in advancing the peace initiative.
The speaker further acknowledged the contributions of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, National Security Adviser Asim Malik, Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch and the Foreign Ministry team for their dedication and professionalism throughout the process.
He said the nation was proud of its political and military leadership for successfully steering the diplomatic effort that culminated in the agreement.
Congratulating the leaderships of both the United States and Iran on the breakthrough, Ayaz Sadiq expressed hope that the agreement would contribute to lasting peace, regional stability and enhanced international cooperation.
He also thanked friendly countries that supported Pakistan’s mediation efforts and helped create conditions conducive to dialogue and reconciliation.
Welcoming Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, and his delegation to the National Assembly, the speaker congratulated the envoy on the successful conclusion of the diplomatic process and praised his role in helping facilitate communication and understanding between the parties.
Ayaz Sadiq said Ambassador Moghadam had played a commendable role in efforts aimed at ending the diplomatic impasse and advancing constructive engagement.
The speaker further remarked that Pakistan’s leadership deserved international recognition for its contribution to securing the Iran-United States peace agreement, describing the achievement as one worthy of the highest global acknowledgment for peace.
Concluding his remarks, Ayaz Sadiq offered prayers that Pakistan would continue to be blessed with the ability to promote peace and successfully help bring the agreement to its final implementation, strengthening stability and prosperity across the region and beyond.
