ISLAMABAD, Sunday, April 12, 2026 (WNP): Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam has described the Islamabad Talks as “not an event but a process,” emphasizing their significance in laying the groundwork for sustained diplomatic engagement.

In a statement, the envoy said the talks had established a foundation for a broader diplomatic process which, if supported by trust and political will, could evolve into a sustainable framework serving the interests of all parties involved.

He expressed gratitude to Pakistan for its role in facilitating the dialogue, particularly acknowledging Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their goodwill and diplomatic initiative.

The ambassador commended the coordinated efforts of Pakistani institutions, including the government, armed forces, police, and security agencies, for ensuring that the talks were conducted in a “calm, orderly and secure environment,” providing equal logistical support to both delegations.

Highlighting Iran’s participation, he said the Iranian negotiating team engaged in the dialogue with “dignity and self-confidence,” guided by national interests and the legitimate rights of its people.

He noted that the talks reflected a serious commitment by all sides to pursue dialogue as a means of resolving complex regional challenges, reinforcing the importance of diplomacy in achieving lasting peace.
